Post Day 11 – Vol. 1

(Lotsa swelling still, my forehead is puffed out and stretched to its limit I think, and the lower part of my face, geezuz … lookit that !! I’m all … I don’t know what … puffy? Seriously, I’m not storing nuts in my cheeks for winter !)

Staples. I think it is 26 that I have remaining in my head. Though I sure wouldn’t put any money on it … ’cause my recent new habit of trying to count the number of staples in my head … generates a number anywhere between 24 and 28.

I’m feeling much better today. In fact, I left work a few moments early yesterday (4:42 p.m.) … and surprisingly, found my disposition dramatically improving almost as soon as I got home. I’m beginning to think that this whole remaining boy-mode presentation thing is causing more internal problems than I had thought it would.

As far as an update goes … physically, my swelling has continued to subside, though those who haven’t seen me since surgery still see my face as a swollen mess. The bruising has diminished considerably, though I still have two bruised eyes, both upper lids and below the eye, with the impact to my left eye still considerably more prominent. My southern region parts have returned to their properly understated size, and though slightly bruised still, are comfortably tuckable once again. My forehead is still immobile, and I continue to display a look of total shock. I have nuisance headaches, but nothing like last week and ones that I’m not even taking Advil for half the time. My lips though are now moveable again and I’m starting to develop a modified smile and smirk. Yay ! 🙂 The skin where I had my liposuctiooooon still feels really weird, as I understand it will for a while, but the pain that used to be there has diminished considerably. In fact, I really wouldn’t call it pain anymore. What’s a pain is the damn compression garment. My nose is really tender, but I think it’s cute, even in its current swollen state. I’m nasal spraying the innards of it constantly though, as I’ve cultivated an extensive and immoveable crop of boogers. They are as hard as a rock and just attached to the stitches inside my nose. I think it’s the same process they use when they have steel rods in concrete structures they are building, as it sure seems to strengthen things. I attempted some delicate booger removal surgery using a mirror and tweezers, but really didn’t find it successful. The boogers have grasped themselves to the stitches and hardened steadfast. Softening and blowing, cautiously, seems to work best. I’ve tried boiling water and then sticking my head over the steam to soften them, and it worked some I think, but it was way too much effort for my attention span. 🙂

More later. I’m actually thinking of writing an Amy Editorial !! I know !!! Like I might actually have an opiniooooon !! lol Yeah right.

  1. Thanks Makenna !! 🙂 It’s been interesting lately in the passing as a boy thing, I have to go to almost as much effort as I did before to pass as Amy, in order to pass as Joe now. Suit and tie at work makes it easy, but casual, the least bit androgynous and I pass as myself now. So nice. Even with the beat up face … what I’m struggling with the most though is my patience in doing the boy thing has completely waned.

  2. if your doctor advertises,
    he should use your pictures…
    🙂
    oh, and we got our
    “consultant fee”
    *nudge nudge wink wink*
    thanks…
    🙂

  3. uh…Amy…you’re gonna have a real problem soon if you don’t go full time. There is No frickin way you could pass as a guy. No way, no how. I don’t know how you do get away with it at this point…

  4. Yes Doctor. But gawd do I ever hate it !!

Thank ! 🙂 What? You’re talking about the mocked-up Photoshop pic ?? Oh, well … thanks still ! 🙂 lol

  5. It was 20 years ago, but for my rhinoplasty I recall the stitches in my nose were disolvable one and eventually the came out, although I may have helped them along a little with the tweezers when they were ready. I do remember I was glad when I was rid of the last one.

It takes a while to relearn how to shower. You might also use a wash cloth for a while to divert the flow from your eyes. I made the discover using a nasty high pH shampoo – ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!

You’ll get movement back again once the traumatized nerves heal and the rest settles down. I scowl with the best, although the price was creasing new scowl lines onto my forehead in a year or so.

  6. Doh !! 🙂 Were you laughing when you read my experience with your tweezer recommendatioooon !! LOL I swear, they are like bolted in there now !! Yuck !!!

Hmmmm, I was wondering about the eyebrow placement and whether there would be much movement. Personally, I like it where they are now, though it does take getting used to, and I’m constantly having some soap in the eye issues while showering. But I would like some movement up there … I really need some mobility to give the proper Amy-Wan Jedi Glare when I’m working the Mind Trick routine on some weak brained hottie who needs to buy me a drink … “I am the girl you’re looking for … You want to buy me a drink.” 🙂

  7. I’d love to have a forehead like yours, Aims.

I agree with Claire. You’re going to have trouble passing as a man from now on. It’s time to be Amy Preston 24/7/365!

  8. It’ll take a while for you to get used to how you look with your eyebrows higher and not resting on a ridge of bone. They may lower a little, but I doubt they’ll lower much. They should become more mobil though.

The tweezer trick only works on the ones that aren’t tied to your head. 🙂

Does Radio Shack carry those cheap little metal detectors any longer? A friend of mine had her head done and when the Doctor removed the staples he left a few behind. She found them the hard way, with a comb, over a period of several weeks.

  9. your nose is waaaaaaaay cute, aims!!

about boy-mode discomfort… as yodette said to me recently, go full-time and you won’t have that problem! 😛 (haha, i know we talked about this already, but i couldn’t resist another prod’n’poke opportunity…) and i have to imagine people will be reading you female left and right now… gawd, i know i would/do! 🙂
