Mom Was Just Wondering
Ring Ring Ring
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Hola”
Mom: “Hi dear. How are you?And why do you answer the phone that way?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Good thanks. I don’t know, I’ve got issues. What’s up? π”
Mom: “So you’re going to Chicago this weekend?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Yuhp.”
Mom: “Why?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Why do you ask?”
Mom: “Are you getting your breast implants this weekend?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Oh, no, not this weekend Mom. I’m sorry I didn’t clarify that. It’s a few weeks yet.”
Mom: “Oh, okay. Then why are going going?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “To goof off.”
Mom: “What?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “To goof off.”
Mom: “What do you mean by that?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “LOL I’m just going to meet up with some girlfriends and hang out, dinner, drinks, shopping, see some musicians, dancing … that sort of thing.”
Mom: “Girlfriends?”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Yes, just some girlfriends.”
Editor’s Note: At this point, I was expecting my mom to ask me who my friends were, where I met them, blah, blah, blah … but noooooo … π
Mom: “Why don’t you go to Chicago with a boyfriend.”
Editor’s Note: At this point, I realize, this could really be fun !! π lol
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Mom?? Are you asking me if I’m a lesbian?”
Mom: “Well, yeah … I am. I just want to know I guess. It’s not like you haven’t surprised me before.”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “True. Good point. Well, just to answer your question, right now … as far as I can tell, I’m really into boys. In fact, I can comfortably say that you should be bothered just how much into boys I am.”
Mom: “Oh.”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “And though I was going to go to Chicago to see ‘Kenna and Jess and some other girls, just to have a GWO (Girl’s Weekend Out) … I’m somewhat intriqued by the possibilities I might have now that you’ve seemed to have given me your permission to spend the weekend out of town with a boy.”
Mom: “Well, that’s not really what I meant.”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “But that’s what you said.”
Mom: “I know, that’s what it sounded like I said, but it’s NOT what I meant.”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Can I talk to Dad?”
Mom: “Sure.”
Dad: “Hello.”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “Dad, Mom just said it was okay for me to spend the weekend out of town with a boy.”
Dad: “What?”
Mom (in the background): “That’s not what I meant.”
Dad: “She said that’s not what she meant.”
Amy-wan Kenobi: “But that’s what she said.”
Dad: “I’m not getting in the middle of you two on this one … What? No, here, you ask her.”
Mom: “So, what outfits are you taking to Chicago? You’re planning to dress your age for a change I hope.”
ROFLMAO Ya know … it’s pretty wild, and phreaking kewl, how far Mom, Dad and I have come in this !! π
You are so incredibly lucky – talk to M – or maybe you have?
Oh, they accept it all right, doesn’t mean it still doesn’t freak them out at times, but they accept it ! π (Still freaks me out at times too for that matter ! :))
When I used LOL like that, it denoted me laughing while I was talking … I’m not sure if Mom would get the acronyms, Dad knows them, but I don’t know about Mom. Mom does know what a GNO means (Gender Night Out or Girl’s Night Out, depending on whether Hottie and Miss Daisy are joining us), I just rattled off GWO when I was talking to her and she didn’t question it. I use abbreviations a lot and she tends to ignore them unless she feels they are critical to her understanding of what I’m talking about.
I am still stuck on the
