Movie Review – The Recruit

All of Al Pacino’s movies seem the same …… but knowing my propensity to beat something to death, watch the same movie repeatedly, and eat the same meal non-stop because I like it …… sameness isn’t always bad in my opinion ….. nonetheless …… Al Pacino really just doesn’t do a darn thing for me ….. (Harrison Ford, Heath Ledger and Bruce Campbell fall nicely into the “doing a darn thing” category for me. Did I mention Heath Ledger?)

As far as the movie goes …… some action ….. but not a great deal ….. mild amounts of romance ….. but not a great deal …… some tech issues ….. but not a great deal …… some adventure/suspense ….. but not a great deal ….. basically …. sorta felt like they were trying to touch every topic in some small way that might get a desired demographic into the theater …..

Plot line was pretty predictable ….. since being completely caught off guard with a movie ending in the Sixth Sense years ago ….. I’ve been sorely disappointed that I’m calling the endings way too easily now …… I called this ending within 15 minutes into the movie (I was off in one ending detail, but that was of no consequence) ….. oh, and don’t think I’m bragging that I can figure out the ending of the movie within 15 minutes ….. if it took me 15 minutes …… you’ll do it in 5 minutes !!

I scarfed a big bucket of movie popcorn soaked in butter …… yummy ….. while slurping down a Frozen Mountain Dew ….. mmmmmmm. (Though I do prefer Frozen Cokes.)

Final opinion …… rental only. Defintely NOT worth a full price ticket. I paid a matinee price for my ticket ($5.50 USD) and felt like I overpaid. As there is no need to see it on the big screen to enjoy any special filmwork or effects …… rent it when it comes out on video/dvd in 6 weeks.
