Movie Review – Terminator 3

So … I had originally planned on doing some chick things Saturday night … it’s been a while since I hootchied up and I was in the mood to drink, dance and get some attentiooon … but alas … my plans feel through 🙁 … I really need more friends … ’cause in some situations … it just isn’t a smart thing to go solo … and in this case, I had promised Shaft I wouldn’t do anything stupid this weekend by going out to risky locales by myself.

I needed new plans … I saw that this one stand-up comedian I like was in town … and I called up Ex, ’cause she likes him too, we had first seen him like 10 years ago … she said she saw him again a few years ago in Chicago and he was still just as funny … anyways …. I asked if she wanted to go see … she said if she was around, yeah, but she’d call me Saturday ’cause she might not come back into town until Sunday … that’d work.

She calls me Saturday afternoon and says she’s game to go and since I’m at my office, I walked over to the comedy club to buy the tix …

But for some reason the show is cancelled … bummer … so I call her and she suggests going to see Terminator 3

And thus … this review …

We went to the 7:55 pm showing on Saturday … I went with the Frozen Pepsi this time … buttered popcorn … free refills on both … final count ended up being two Frozen Pepsi’s and three fillings of buttered popcorn (I did share some of the popcorn with Ex).

Great previews … there was a Heath Ledger preview for his new movie The Order … I told Ex I thought he was hot … she thought he was “okay”, but that Viggo Mortensen in his trailer for Hidalgo was much, much hotter. He’s okay … but Heath … ahh … though, so sad … he’s playing a priest in this new flick, so … you know any love scenes won’t be with girls !! 🙁 … oh well …. Hidalgo is on my must see list … I’ll have to get more scoop on The Order … and then the preview for American Wedding … I wet myself I laughed so hard !!! (Well, not really wet myself, I spilled some Frozen Pepsi, but I got wet …) So that’s a must see … besides, there’s a personal connectioooon with the American Pie movies … (yes, yes … I’ll admit … I didn’t watch them much, Shaft was totally into the Pie flicks and I just poo-poo’d them … but then … during one of my insomnia attacks … I was left with a choice between American Pie II or an Ab-DoER Xtreme informercial … I opted for American Pie II and was hooked. So Shaft was right.)

Oh … you’re here for the review on Terminator 3, aren’t you? Sorry for the distraction … okay …

I was expecting very little … I thought Terminator was one of the all time classics, I thought Terminator 2 was a special effects blast and enjoyed it, but I hadn’t heard much buzz on T-3 and was thinking it’d be sorta lame … I mean, I’ve been disappointed in ways with so many of the sequels lately …

Anyways … the movie started off with excitement … continued with excitement … and ended with excitement.

The special effects and car crashes were amazing … the acting was much better that I’d expect in a T-1,T-2,T-3 movie … the script had some embarassingly lame points, but hey, if you’re going for the script – don’t go, that’s not the purpose of the movie … though on the other hand, there was some nice lighter moments with the script and some good lines … the whole timeline fit super well into the Terminator universe … great plot twists and continuity … I’d love to see a T-4 right now !! Oh … and the new Terminatrix … whoa … totally kicks butt !!

Most importantly … I didn’t look at my watch once !! And when it ended, I wanted more … I was like … come on … blow something else up … I don’t want it to end yet !! I’m seriously thinking about going to see it again this afternoon …

Oh … all the actors and actresses played their roles more than adequately … I wasn’t embarassed for any of them (unlike both of the Annakins which to date have sucked) … however, in a totally catty observation, Claire Danes isn’t nearly as cute as she was when she was younger.

Final review … if you at all like flicks of this genre … then it’s worthy of full price and an evening viewing. You’re doing yourself an injustice if you don’t see it on the big screen. I give it a very strong 8.

Asta La Vista Babies.

WARNING: Remember who is writing this review … namely … ME !! So take it for what it’s worth … absolutely nothing. My last review was for The Italian Job, which I gave a thumbs up … and then I felt terrible because Caitlin saw it and gave it a thumbs down … now granted, she probably didn’t see the movie because of any review I wrote here, and if she did, she was sweet enough not to say “You dolt, the movie sucked” … but still, I felt somewhat responsible. So I’m just warning all of you … remember … it’s me writing these movie reviews !! View at your own risk !! 🙂
