Coffee Choices
There’s a bit of surreal oddness in my life,
Caused by how I’ve created a new life for myself hanging out with different people at different settings …
While keeping parts of my former life quite active,
By remaining in the same community and working in the same office.
Each workday morning I have to choose as to where get my coffee,
My old coffee hangout …
Where news of my function is well,
I guess you could say news …
And I can see and feel the looks from the regulars as I’m crossing the street …
“Psst … that’s Joe.”
(hehe Joe – Coffee … Get it?)
Or a new coffee source …
Two narrow buildings to the left of my old coffee hangout …
Where the coffee provider brings into the shop the comics he’s drawn to show me,
As he thinks I will totally get them …
Because I masterfully combined a Better Off Dead movie quote and Calvin and Hobbes reference into the same one-liner.
(Sadly, it’s true … yes, I did get them !! :))
In ways,
I feel an obligation to go to the old place from time to time …
Answer questiooons,
Feed the talk of my function …
Because it’s not like I’m embarassed by my transsexualism,
And I sure don’t want to convey to others that I am.
However,
It’s just sooooo nice to go places where it’s not ever an issue.
It’s wild what a difference that something as simple as where I buy my coffee can make to a start of my day.
I don’t think it’s bad at all … I know exactly what you’re saying. In my case, it’s still news to many and I feel an obligation to answer their questions, so I do find myself talking about it … but I do try to limit the settings and frequency of where I place myself in those situations, because, like you, it’s just so much nicer for me to not have to think about it, not have to talk about it, and just be me.
Which is why I usually get my coffee at the new place ! 😉
Isn’t it weird? Some days I don’t mind talking about my function; some days I do all I can do to avoid it. But more and more, I just want to be Laura, the woman, not Laura the transsexual. So I find myself staying out of places where I know I might have to talk about it. Is that bad?

Yeah….loved the black humor in GPB – Aykroyd was excellent but then again…I was brought up on the Blues Brothers!!! ’nuff said.
As for the electro…yep, guys have it done all the time, ‘cept, they generally don’t get the upper lip done, I looked like I went a few rounds with Evander Holyfield (is that how you spell it) anyways…..I’m shagged, so I’m off for a bath and then I’m hitting the scratcher 🙂

Upper lip electro sucks !!! It’s funny that you mention they said it was only for girls … I was talking with a male client of mine yesterday and he was well versed in electro terminology … having some for himself to remove some back and neck hair. Electro … it’s not just for women anymore !! 🙂
Well well Amy – a John Cusack fan huh? who woulda thought it. Funny you should post this thread, a nice bit of synchronicity I would have thought, here’s why. I had electro on my upper lip on Friday (PITA) I’m all swollen after 45 minutes of work on the lip area, anyways, I went to my local sandwich bar to get my regular sandwich. When the girls (who don’t know my function) saw me and asked why I was late and what happened to my lip – I just told them point blank, oh electrolysis, it’s a PITA really – and proceeded to order my regular. There was silence for about 20 seconds then one of the girls came back with – why are you having electrolysis, isn’t that for women, yep I replied but…..but….but your a guy right only on the outside honey, only on the outside. Point is, I just don’t care anymore…..I say phuck the begrudgers Amy – live life to the full:)
Oh yeah … I think it’s kind of obvious, but in case anyoe missed it … “cold medicine” is code for something !! 😉
