Movie Review – Identity

So …. I saw the horror chiller Identity last night. It’s hard to talk about movies of this nature without disclosing the trick of the trick movie, so I’ll summarize cautiously as follows:

Plenty of good acting, John Cusack is such an anguished hottie and Ray Liotta is such a yummy hottie (though for some reason, I get the feeling I wouldn’t want him to talk, not that it’d be needed :));

I covered my eyes four times …. that’s a good thing;

I figured out the ending three times ….. each time wrong …. that’s a good thing;

I had two buckets of popcorn and two frozen Mountain Dews …. another good thing;

I legitimately jumped in my seat twice …. another good thing; and,

I didn’t look at my watch once, a rarity and a good thing.

I did find the trick at the end a bit awkward, but it worked. It was no Sixth Sense, my benchmark of trick movies, but it was an entertaining view.

It could be an adequate date movie (for the “out of fear” cuddle factor). However, other than that, there’s nothing about the movie that you couldn’t enjoy on a dvd when it’s released. So if you’re going to big screen it, do a matinee, unless you’re on a date. In that case, then go to the late show so that it’s definitely dark when you leave the theater (figure it out kids …. makes for a snuggly walk back to the car after seeing a scary flick.) Final score …. because I always round to whole numbers …. 6 out of 10.
