Friday Five for May 9, 2003

1. Would you consider yourself an organized person? Why or why not?

Ahhhh ….. yes, I like to call it organized, some people just call it anal. 🙂 Though here’s the scoop on me …. with my organization ….. when I’m in the zone on something ….. such as a trial, project, objective ….. I pretty much zone in on that and completely disregard my obsessive organization nature …. such that mail can pile up on my dining room table, clothes on my bed and files on my desk, but once I leave the zone …. I’m back to anal organization ….. everything thing has a place, file folders with labels in my desk drawers, soup cans in the cupboard sorted by size and then alphabetically, glasses sorted by function, style and size …. you get the picture. 🙂

2. Do you keep some type of planner, organizer, calendar, etc. with you, and do you use it regularly?

YES and YES. I have my calendar on my notebook and use my Palm PDA – m500 (monochrome only, I traded off on color for the extra battery life) …. I take it everywhere with me and use it multiple times during the day. Though I think the new Palm Zire 71 looks like a sweet ride. My brother got one last week.

3. Would you say that your desk is organized right now?

Right now. Ahhhh ….. no …… it’s a complete mess. Though by Monday ….. it’ll be an organized wonder !! 🙂

4. Do you alphabetize CDs, books, and DVDs, or does it not matter?

Yes. And it matters. It just bugs me when they are out of order. Sometimes when a collection gets extensive I’ll first categorize alphabetically within genre, but that creates a whole new problem with placement within genre …. I mean, seriously …. does The Matrix belong in Science Fiction, Drama or Religion.

5. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to organize?

I think this is a silly question, and I so don’t have the ability within myself to answer it seriously !!

So for this answer, I’m going to say my bras …. I really haven’t figured out a good way to fold them and stack them in my dresser drawers …….. and I can really never find my favorite ones when I want them, even though I know they have to be in my dresser drawers someplace, cause they’re not in the dirty clothes hamper or drying in the bathroom … and then when I stack them in a nice orderly pile in my drawer, when then look all nice, neat and orderly, well …. I’ll open the drawer later and ….. POOF ….. they’ve just fallen over sometimes …. ahhhh …. such trials and tribulations !! 🙂
