Post One Month – I Did What?

PostOneMonth.JPG

Wow … one month ago today I got cut-up … whacked-up.

It’s hard to believe that it was a month ago, because honestly, it feels like it was much, much longer. The trauma of the surgery is fading from my memory … one of the side bennies of having a short attention span !! ๐Ÿ™‚

Four weeks ago Shaft was feeding me pain pills,

I couldn’t breathe through my nose because of all the nasal packing,

I was unable to sit up without assistance because of the liposuction pain,

My left eye was completely swollen shut,

I was only eating apple sauce, and

I was wearing a turbin of bandages.

A week and a half ago was when I felt back to normal … having survived the post-surgery pain and post-surgery blues.

And this week … I finally started feeling like getting out again. ๐Ÿ™‚ In fact, Dr. Z in one of his two “check up on me” phone calls this week gave me clearance to doing some light work-outs again. I feigned excitement upon receiving the news, having totally loved telling myself that I couldn’t work out on doctor’s orders ! Sort of removed the whole guilt factor about being lazy !! ๐Ÿ™‚

As far as physical recovery goes … my left eye still has a slight bruise underneath it along with a tad of bruising above my eye.

The incision on my forehead at my hairline is healing nicely … though the picture above makes it looks worse than it really … I was in my “getting ready for bed” mode having removed all remnants of make-up for a pure picture, but had already moistened up the incision with some triple antibiotic. I’ve got four spots on my forehead that are a bit of a challenge for me … two are the size of pinheads and two are slightly bigger. The two larger ones are right in the center of my forehead and I’m having a difficult time keeping them from scabbing as they seem to bleed frequently. They appeared in the last two days and I’m fairly certain are the result of some stitches spitting out. If I keep on them, I should be able to minimize any scarring. When I want to hide the incision … a little concealer and powder does the trick comfortably.

The reaction to the chromite sutures in my nose seems to have abated. Most of the swelling at the end of my nose by the septum has reduced, but I still feel quite a bit of swelling and reaction on the inside. The nose is less painful to touch, but if you hit the tip of it by accident … it still hurts fiercely.

There’s still a great deal of swelling in and about my face … mainly in the nose and cheek area. I’m also experiencing a lot of swelling in my pelvic area as a result of the liposuction.

I’m starting to feel sensations again in my forehead by the incision and also on my scalp. Actually, parts of my forehead hurt a great deal to touch now … something that was not the case last week. Two, maybe three, times this past week … I must have experienced some nerve reconnection action in my scalp as I had some searing pain that probably lasted 3 – 5 seconds or so, but felt like it was several minutes in duration. I was warned they would start … but didn’t expect so soon, and though it wasn’t debilitating pain … it was definitely enough to make one wince.

The tightness in my forehead seems to be loosening up and I don’t notice it nearly as much. I’ve also regained the ability to move my eyebrows … not complete control, but enough to enhance my expressions and reactions !! ๐Ÿ™‚

My energy level is still less than it was pre-surgery, but has been increasing at a nice pace. I’m not tiring nearly as quickly as I was the past few weeks, but this week after bowling for the first time on Wednesday night, I was slothing around pretty much the entire day on Thursday, even though I had a nice sleep the night previous. Apparently I can drain my energy resources much quicker than I had in the past … as they are still being used at some level for recovery.

Ya know … I think that’s about all there is to report for now … not really exciting, huh? ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m still super pleased with the results and my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner ! ๐Ÿ™‚
