{"id":934,"date":"2004-05-10T13:02:14","date_gmt":"2004-05-10T18:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amynews.com\/?p=925"},"modified":"2015-10-08T17:39:59","modified_gmt":"2015-10-08T21:39:59","slug":"sunday-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amynews.com\/2004\/05\/sunday-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent a good portion of Sunday with my parents &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>As it was Mother&#8217;s Day,<\/p>\n<p>And had a really, really good time, \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>But by the end of the day,<\/p>\n<p>I was emotionally drained.<\/p>\n<p>You see, the topic of me came up,<\/p>\n<p>Along with my upcoming surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>And though Dad continued to convey his support and love,<\/p>\n<p>In a calm, caring way &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It really takes a toll on me how hard this is on my parents,<\/p>\n<p>How much they are hurting,<\/p>\n<p>Even as they try to show that it doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Making them happy,<\/p>\n<p>Making them proud of me, and<\/p>\n<p>Giving them positive feelings  &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Is so important to my being.<\/p>\n<p>They are the greatest parents one could ever hope to have,<\/p>\n<p>And this part of the transition &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Totally sucks,<\/p>\n<p>So much.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve never been good at handling it when I disappoint people,<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pantheon.org\/articles\/a\/achilles.html\" target=\"_blank\">Achilles&#8217;<\/a> Heel.<\/p>\n<p>And I&#8217;m really, really bad at handling it when I feel like I am disappointing people I love.<\/p>\n<p>Though my parents have never even come close to suggesting they feel this way,<\/p>\n<p>And if I really think about it,<\/p>\n<p>I know they don&#8217;t &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I still can&#8217;t help but feel like I am at times,<\/p>\n<p>All because of <i>this<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Though I know,<\/p>\n<p>That given the time,<\/p>\n<p>I will make my parents &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Happy,<\/p>\n<p>Proud of me, and<\/p>\n<p>Give them super good positive feelings about me.<\/p>\n<p>But still &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Somedays,<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime,<\/p>\n<p>It sucks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I spent a good portion of Sunday with my parents &#8230; As it was Mother&#8217;s Day, And had a really, really good time, \ud83d\ude42 But by the end of the day, I was emotionally drained.
