We had an incredibly beautiful weekend of weather here … nice warm temperatures, lotsa sun … it was great !! 🙂

So how did everyone’s favorite television personality wanna be spend her weekend of sun …

Why, by sitting in a dark movie theatre watching Kill Bill, Vol. 2, of course ! (Seriously, can I hear a collective … looooooser !!!)

Well, it wasn’t quite like that … first I did substantive yardwork, attacking with a vengence my backyard for some spring cleaning maintenance …

Meaning,

I spent two hours on my hands and knees crawling around scooping up dog poop. Yeah, it was time to pick up all the winter droppings of Indiana Jones Lando Calrissian … YIKES !!! Such glamour in my life, huh ?? 🙂

Anywhose, it was a fairly productive weekend of outsideness … my backyard is at least prepared now for some chemical treatment … after having raked and bagged a dozen plus bags of leaves and other yard waste-age.

Though on a side note, I would like the record to reflect,

I hate yardwork.

Absolutely hate it !!

My mom recently commented that if I would go out less and keep up with the yardwork more, I wouldn’t hate it so much when I did it.

Maybe, but regardless,

I found myself compelled to briskly reply without a moment’s pause …

Well, if I go out, maybe I can find a guy that’ll eventually do my yardwork for me.”

It was at this point that my dad groaned softly while shaking his head !! 🙂

Oh well … after finishing such duties … I decided to clean up and go catch a flick.

Unfortunately … as is the case with much in my life …

Everyone I know was either otherwise occupied or had no interest in seeing said flick.

So … once again … there I was … uttering the second most frequent phrase in my life …

One please.”

After scamming my ticket, obtaining my requisite frozen Mountain Dew and popcorn lathered in fake butter product …

I made my way into the stadium seating of theater number 6 in my favorite 20 theater complex … and scanned for a good spot to stake my claim.

I had arrived there early enough for some good seat selection, while not too early so that the previews would start shortly after my arrival. A skilled developed after years of frequent movie-going.

Anyways, it was at this point that I noticed …

I’m the only chick there by myself.

Oh sure … there’s more than a handful of solo guys there,

And plenty of guys there with guys – all separated in their homophobic way by one empty seat between them …

But just me who appeared to be there by herself.

I’m really not sure if that’s something girls just don’t do,

Or if it’s indicative that I’m pathetic and can’t find anyone to go with me,

Or if it’s just confirming my membership in the geekwad club remains …

All I know is that regardless of what it signifies,

I really don’t care.

It was just something I notice. 🙂

Now as I had hoped, I timed my arrival perfectly with the start of the previews …

Which commenced mere moments after I had planted myself in a great, mid placement, aisle seat.

Unfortunately, apparently picking up dog poop and raking leaves can cause one to work up an appetite, because before the previews even ended, I found myself with the one conundrum every solo movie go’er fears …

How do you save your seat if you need a refill of popcorn or frozen Mountain Dew?

There’s really no good way … especially in summer months when you’re not wearing a coat that you could leave in the chair …

Sometimes I just leave napkins in the chair, sorta make it messy … hoping that’ll scare people off,

Sometimes I ask someone sitting close by to let others know it’s taken,

Other times I just wait until far enough in the movie so that my risk of late arrivals showing up and taking my seat is minimal …

But in this instance, I wanted refills before the movie started and there really wasn’t anyone that I felt like asking to help me out …

So I took a napkin and wrote the following message, then left it laid out on the top of the seat after it had popped back up …

This seat is mine. Don’t piss me off. The Bride.”

I don’t know if it worked,

Heck, I don’t know if anyone read it at all,

Or even could in the dim light of the theater during previews,

And I don’t know if any of you find it as amusing as I did while I smirked writing it out (seeing the first flick might help in that sense) …

But I do know …

Upon my return, my seat was still my seat !!!

Wooo hooo 🙂

Anyways, I suppose I should get to the review at some point, huh ??

Okay … here goes.

Go see the phreaking movie.

It’s great !!

Not only is it worth full price on a weekend evening, it’s worth paying full price on a weekend evening twice to see it again.

It’s different from Kill Bill, Vol. 1 …

Which was a great, great movie with lots of really kewl, kung fu fight scenes …

Instead, this Vol. 2 is more character development …

Getting to know the personalities better,

Understanding where they came from,

And to where they are going.

Of course, it has some kung fu fun in it,

And what I consider the best fight scene between two women ever,

Along with some really funny lines …

Wherein fun is made of the movie itself and others like …

Plus plenty of suspense,

A couple of “ukkkkk” moments,

Fun, fun action …

And an ending of resolution.

Now, I suppose if there is anything critical I noted about the movie,

It was that there was a lot of talking,

And I mean …

Lots and lots of people talking with each other.

Now, it didn’t bother me until near the end,

But I won’t get into what bothered me about it, at least just yet …

Because that would give the ending away,

And I try not to do that.

However, I will say, what bothered me was short lived, because eventually it was resolved in a way that met with my approval before the end. 🙂

So if you liked the first Kill Bill, Vol. 1, I think you’ll find Vol. 2 fulfilling and fun. If you haven’t seen Vol. 1, you really don’t need to see it to enjoy Vol. 2 in my opinion, but if you get a chance to rent Vol. 1 beforehand, do it. The movies are really different, but fit well with each other. I’m not sure I’d call Vol. 2 a sequel … it’s more, well … just Vol. 2. Sort of like the LOTR series (Lord of The Rings you butt non-geeks :)) … more of a continuation than a sequel or second doing.

I consider the movie a must see.

Final rating … 8 out of 10.
