Once again …

That nice, brand new …

Carrier furnace I purchased for my house a few years ago,

Required a service call during the heating season.

Grrrrrrrrr

It went out during the middle of the night at some point,

Or maybe early evening,

I have no clue.

All I know is that when the insomnia stirred me in the middle of the night,

The temp was already down to the low 60’s.

And by the time I left to drive to a foreign court at 6:30 am …

It was down to 60.

And I was cutting glass.

When I returned early afternoon to meet the service guy,

It was in the mid 50’s.

Now service guy Ken was a sweetie …

Though a little on the hefty side,

He was way kute.

Until he gave me the bad news.

This season’s ailment was a defective controller …

And my phreaking furnance has been out of warranty for 2 years now.

“What’s the damage?”

“You’re not going to like it?”

“Nothing against you Ken, but I don’t like the fact I had to call you in the first place, it’s a certainty I won’t like this news.”

“$400.00”

Great … that’ll bring the grand total I’ve spend in three years of service calls on a brand new furnance installed by Ken’s company to $800.

Almost half of what I paid for the furnance in the first place.

“I told you that you weren’t going to like it.”

“Yeah, I’m going to think about it … I’ve got to talk to the owner … I’m far from pleased at this point.”

“I don’t blame you.

“In the meantime, you’re going to fix it so that I can at least have heat for now.”

“You know, I can try to fix it so that you can at least have heat for now.”

“You’re not going to charge me for this service call.”

“I’m not even going to charge you for this service call.”

“If you ever see a blue eyed, light blonde haired girl that looks like she could be my sister in any bar, you’ll buy her many beers and dance with her.”

“I’ll buy beers for and dance with your sister.”

“These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.”

“These aren’t the droids we’re looking for.”

“Go back to work.”

“Go back to work.”

So, anyways …

When I left my house a couple of hours ago, the temperature was back up to 66 degrees (you thought I was going to say 69, didn’t you?) …

And it didn’t cost me a penny yet.
