I certainly have a very confrontational relationship with the cable company …<\/p>\n

Though I often use the word “hate” in passing … I “hate” very few …<\/p>\n

But I completely loathe the cable company.<\/p>\n

However, I am a sell-out …<\/p>\n

I use cable for my broadband at home.<\/p>\n

And yesterday … my connectioooon went down … and though I suspected what the problem was … I went through the standard self-diags to evaluate … all coming back neg which reinforced my previous conclusion … there’s an exposed, loose connection outside … in times of heavy rain, Shaft snow or a thaw … I will lose my connection for about 6 hours on average. Of course, when I call the cable company … it’s the standard … blah, blah, blah … it’s my problem … I own my own modem, so if they have to come out and it’s not the outside line, they’ll charge me … am I sure I checked this … did I do that … we can’t get anyone out there until tomorrow afternoon.<\/p>\n

Fine. Whatever.<\/p>\n

Now, I knew full well that by the time they showed up … it’d be back and working.<\/p>\n

Which it was … when I got home last night … things were moving nicely.<\/p>\n

So this morning I called Comcast Technical support to tell them …

\nIt’s working, they don’t need to come out. I won’t be there. But if they’d still like to come check out the exterior connections … they could and call me if they have any questioooons.<\/p>\n

Hey, even though I loathe the cable company … I don’t loathe the repairman … there’s no need for him\/her to make the trip when it’s back working.<\/p>\n

Hmmmm … what the … I just punched it … did they just ask me to amuse themselves … keep me occupied … does it even transfer to anyone … is it just a wasted question … could I just punch in any number? I was perplexed.<\/p>\n

Anyways, I tell him my home phone number and that my connection is back working and then hang up.<\/p>\n

But I’m still bothered by the redundacy of the inquiry …<\/p>\n

So I decided to perform a test.<\/p>\n

I dialed 1-888-262-6300 (Comcast’s Service line).<\/p>\n
