Earlier this week Singer asked me if I wanted to meet up with her and her girls while they were out and about doing some shopping …

And as at the time it totally worked with my schedule …

I quickly said … yes ! 🙂

I’d like it if you could come as Amy.”

Wow !!! Too kewl !! 🙂

Okay … it’ll take me longer, I have to head home and change first.”

You don’t need to doll up … I’m certainly not.”

Now … having my promptness recently called into questioooooon … I was intent on being timely … unfortunately … my witness prep went much longer than I had planned and I was an hour behind the schedule I had set in my own mind as I was finally leaving the office …

So I knew that I would have no time to dally in executing the ol’ switcheroo …

The clock in my car displayed 5:20 pm as I turned off the engine in my driveway …

The clock in my car displayed 5:38 pm when I subsequently turned on the ignition to my car.

In that time I accomplished plenty, including … feeding my dog, letting him out, combing out the excessive mousse and bondo in my hair that was holding it down while in boy mode … moistening it some to get a bit of control opportunity … changing from suit and tie to cordouroys and turtleneck … which I might add … shows you my rush … I rarely wear turtlenecks, this thing I don’t know where I got it from and the color was about as hideous on me as possible … glopping on some eye shawdow and mascara … taking the flat iron to my hair … letting my dog in … wrestling with him a bit, letting him think he defeated me … grabbing my sweater, purse and hitting the road.

Sure, I looked like krap. I knew it. Seriously, there is no other way to describe it … I had electrolysis earlier in the day and didn’t even take the time to try and cover up the red marks with make-up …

In retrospect … I should have implemented the Lazy-Amy look instead of the Rushed-Amy look … What’s the diff you ask? Lazy-Amy is more androgynous … hair in a ponytail, some flirty bangage, often a cap (with the lid curved !! Bastards), jeans and a long sleeve tee … when it’s working, I think it’s a much cuter look than the Rushed-Amy look, but Lazy-Amy carries a greater read risk because of its androgynous nature … now usually I don’t care, which I think is one of the reasons of late I’ve been pulling off Lazy-Amy without a hitch … but since I was going to be with Singer and her children, I knew I’d care and figured better safe than sorry, so I went with the considerably less attractive Rushed-Amy look.

Which I pulled off in a mere 18 minutes thank you very much ! 🙂

I met up with them in the children’s department at the store.

Singer … to her credit … was once again amazing … I’m not sure how in the hell she does it … not even one pronoun screw-up … in fact … at one point … she was referencing something about me in boy mode and spoke totally in third person with the phrase … “My friend Joe Hairdy does something like that.”

And not only that … she exhibited absolutely no signs of nervousness whatsoever … I’m really not sure if I was read while shopping … I don’t think so … but you never know.

In fact, I learned something new that night. You know how I mentioned I looked like krap … well, it didn’t matter one bit !! See … Singer came as she represented earlier, with the casual Singer look … which, is still phreakin’ gorgeous !! In the past, when we’d be doing the same thing, walking the mwall or other stores … just gabbing … I’d notice the looks she gets … and then I’d see the glance my ways … with the message conveyed in the lookers’ eyes … “Wow, I wonder how that geek knows her” or “I should tell security there’s a stalker in the mall” … but this time … when I was walking with her … no one even saw me … not a soul noticed me !!! It was truly amazing … I’m sure that when I was pushing the cart with her one daughter riding inside … people thought the cart was moving by itself !! At one point, as Singer and I were conversing at the register … a male store employee approached her and asked if she was okay.

I’m fine.”

Well, you’re just standing there … talking to yourself.”

What do you mean, I’m talking with my friend Amy.”

Ma’am, there’s nobody there. Would you like to dance?”

Seriously !! It happened just like that !!! 😉

Amyways … none of that is the point to this post … (Does it bug you that I always ramble on like that first before I ever get to my point ?? 🙂 In case you’re wondering … I tend to do the exact same thing in real life … or so I’m told … just ask Singer or Shaft or Hottie or Sister or Miss Daisy or Ex or Morrie or … 🙂 )

The point is this …

That was the first time ever I did something as me with someone who’s been in my life where it didn’t feel like sort of an event … where it was like we have always been … just hanging out, doing the same old thing.

Now don’t get me wrong … “event” get togethers are not bad !!! 🙂 They are great and very special to me … but usually with the people who have been in my life that I spend time with now as me … our get togethers are set or prearranged … there’s often a purpose … seeing me for the first time … introducing me to someone else for the first time …

The closest experiences I’ve had have been when I hang out with Ex and Morrie … those are just casual occurrences now … but it’s not something like we’ve done in the past, ’cause, well … Ex and Morrie weren’t the ones who were the couple in the past … 🙂

But this … this was exactly how it’s always been … we shopped, went off in our own directions at times … I helped some with her children … we talked about things in general, plans for the week … mocked ourselves, mocked others … gabbed about The UnUsual Suspects … got something to eat … just same, ol’, regular routine stuff (mucho props to Singer for that 🙂 !!)

Except this time I was me.

And I really didn’t think about about it until near the end of the shopping excursion …

And when I thought about … it felt kind of strange … not because I had just spent time shopping with Singer with me in the female role, but …

Because for a brief period of time there …

Not only was I in a totally comfortable, familiar, and safe environment,

But I was also totally unaware of my transsexualism.

It wasn’t an “event” where my transsexualism was the reason for the get together.

And it was a feeling I hadn’t experienced before …

I’m guessing that’s what life is supposed to feel like.
