A hug.<\/p>\n
It’s a pretty simple thing, and honestly, I never was much of a hugging person before …<\/p>\n
But now … it’s really all I have in the way of physical contact with the world.<\/p>\n
And sometimes … I find myself so needing a hug.<\/p>\n
Whether I’m doing boy … girl … or whatever,<\/p>\n
When I’m out facing the world,<\/p>\n
I’m presenting this face of cool, calm …<\/p>\n
Okayness.<\/p>\n
Ya see, I’ve got to be strong,<\/p>\n
In attitude, confidence, and<\/p>\n
Understanding of others.<\/p>\n
So to set a positive example for those in my life dealing with me.
\n
\nAnd though that’s a strong part of my personality anyways,<\/p>\n
There are times when as soon as I get home …<\/p>\n
I’m Exhausted.<\/p>\n
Drained.<\/p>\n
Not desparate by any means,<\/p>\n
It’s just that this process demands a great deal of one’s mental, emotional and being resources.<\/p>\n
And it’s at those times,<\/p>\n
That I long for a hug.<\/p>\n
For someone to just momentarily embrace me,<\/p>\n
In a comforting way …<\/p>\n
Maybe even tenderly pat my back a couple of times,<\/p>\n
And whisper …<\/p>\n
You’re doing good, you’re going to make it, I’m proud of you.<\/i><\/p>\n
But when I look around for that hug,<\/p>\n
For that brief moment of touching support from another human being,<\/p>\n
I’m reminded very quickly, that …<\/p>\n
I’m alone.<\/p>\n
And I feel it very deeply.<\/p>\n
But it’s just something I have to learn to deal with.<\/p>\n
Ya see …<\/p>\n
I’ve got to be strong,<\/p>\n
In attitude, confidence, and<\/p>\n
Understanding of others.<\/p>\n
