Along the way … they stopped in South Bend at the invitation of Brother Paul, the founder of modern athletics at the University of Notre Dame …<\/p>\n

Brother Paul wanted the University of Michigan to teach the rules of this game called football to a select group of seniors. After spending time teaching the rules of football to the University of Notre Dame players, a game was played. It was called on account of time after one inning (the term used in those days) with The University of Michigan defeating The University of Notre Dame 8 – 0.<\/p>\n

So yes, it is true … The University of Michigan taught Notre Dame how to play football.<\/p>\n

And today, 116 years later … in defeating Notre Dame by the largest amount of victory ever in the teams’ storied history with one another … and in holding Notre Dame scoreless … once again, it can accurately be said …<\/p>\n
