As you watched Amy prepare to transition, with hormones and electrolysis and the rest, while all the time holding that the decision was up in the air, did “you” ever doubt she’d make the decision to transition?<\/p>\n

I did doubt that Amy would decide to transition. I still have those doubts. I don’t doubt that Amy should transition, and that she desires to transition. I’ve already stated that I think she has worked through the decision-making process as thoroughly as one could imagine possible. I know her decision is well informed. However, I worry that she might decide not to transition because of her loyalty to friends and family.

\nI worry that Amy might decide that she can’t put her family through the transition. We already know that she is struggling with the idea of leaving family, friends and co-workers behind. But I think that if she were to choose a path other that transition, it would be her way of protecting the people she cares about. That tune has been playing for too many years. It’s time to put a little “me” in Amy. Sorry, it’s a stretch but I couldn’t resist.<\/p>\n
I want to support her but at the same time encourage her to make her choices based on her own needs and wants. There is no other person in my life who is more willing to put my needs ahead of hers.<\/p>\n
