Back in the days,<\/p>\n
One night on American Idol tonight,<\/p>\n
A caller calling in,<\/p>\n
Posing a question,<\/p>\n
Was a chica by the name of Tara Miller,<\/p>\n
Who happened to be the very first kiss of Simon Cowell,<\/p>\n
When they were 9.<\/p>\n
What I found so kewl was how touched Simon seemed,<\/p>\n
And how he remembered,<\/p>\n
Without apparent pause,<\/p>\n
Exactly who she was.<\/p>\n
You always remember your first kiss !<\/p>\n
Sorta, kinda, maybe.<\/p>\n
‘Cause though I totally remember Joe’s first kiss …<\/p>\n
In second grade,<\/p>\n
In a shed,<\/p>\n
I don’t remember my first kiss.<\/p>\n
Maybe it’s because I was much,<\/p>\n
Much older than one normally is when they have their first kiss,<\/p>\n
So the memory imprint wasn’t quite as strong;<\/p>\n
Or maybe it’s because I was under the influence of alcohol when I had my first kiss,<\/p>\n
And since I can’t remember my first kiss,<\/p>\n
I can’t say for certain that such was actually the case,<\/p>\n
It is certainly possible.<\/p>\n
Likely.<\/p>\n
What I do know though is that for some reason,<\/p>\n
I find it a kind of empty feeling,<\/p>\n
This whole “not having a first kiss experience” thing.<\/p>\n
It’s not necessarily a sad feeling,<\/p>\n
Mind you,<\/p>\n
As I am well aware there are a good number of not fun first memories from which I have been spared.<\/p>\n
It’s more one of those situations where all you can really do is acknowledge it while shrugging your shoulders.<\/p>\n
