Within the last 24 hours …. I’ve talked to two different people about my transsexualism ….. people to whom I am very close …. and who are members of the Group of 10 …. you know, that group that would actually give a rip if I was around or not.<\/p>\n
I value the thoughts of both.<\/p>\n
One of the conversations I initiated ….. the other, I didn’t, and was honestly caught off guard by it. But really both conversations were rather spur of the moment.<\/p>\n
And both conversations were incredibly rewarding and fulfilling for me. Their insights were very confirming ….. and it reassured me that I put the necessary thought into my decision before making it.<\/p>\n
Neither person is crazy about Option 1, though I feel one of them is of the opinion it’s the right thing for me and the other isn’t sure yet. During the extensive discussions ….. we covered and talked about a great deal ….. but something that both said surprised me ….. not because of what was said …. but because both of them, independently, said the same thing …..<\/p>\n
“It would have been better if you had transitioned when you were in your 20’s.”<\/i><\/p>\n
Both felt that by delaying, I am not going to be able to capitalize on all I have worked so far to accomplish and gain in my life to date, and that by delaying transition when I did, I’m not going to have as many opportunities to do things with my life than if I had when I was younger.<\/p>\n
In their context, both of their observations were dead-on accurate.<\/p>\n
And it was encouraging to me how with both, we were able to openly talk about transitioning in a positive way.<\/p>\n
Though I am curious if they each would be so accepting of early transition had I let them know back then.<\/p>\n
Would they have said ….<\/p>\n
“Well, you are the perfect age?”<\/i><\/p>\n
I’ll never know.<\/p>\n
