VH1,

But the old band didn’t exist anymore:

Singer was under contract with another band. A popular and good band.

Runner-up had left the industry entirely,

As did Sister,

Both doing the working 9-5 suburbanite thang.

Miss Daisy was who knows where,

Having left the State of Amy,

Entirely.

However,

There were a few things klicking in my head.

There were many people that played with the old band from time to time,

So maybe it’d be possible to get some of them back together,

Mix in some of my new peeps,

And see what we sounded like.

As anticipated,

Runner-Up couldn’t be coaxed out of retirement,

Sister couldn’t swing the schedule either,

And though I’m sure if he was around Miss Daisy would jam,

He’s currently touring elsewhere and just couldn’t be here.

But I started making calls …

Begging.

Now for those of you that haven’t grasp this yet,

The whole band analogy is kode for bowling team.

And bowling seasons …

Last phreaking forever.

It’s not that easy talking someone into committing to bowling as a regular for a full season.

But hey …

I had the time on my hands,

So why not try?

Shaft,

Who actually toured with the band for several years,

Agreed to be a regular sub,

Playing every other week.

I got vague, acquiesence from Turtle to sub,

A former regular with the band for many years too,

Possibly on the weeks that Shaft couldn’t.

Sweet.

So counting me,

And 1/2 Shaft, 1/2 Turtle …

I was 2/5’s of the way to having a band again.

My friend Scully agreed to play,

And my friends Steel and XRay were willing to be a husband/wife duo …

With one of them being there every week.

Kickbutt … 4/5’s of the way there !!!

Aggressive pleading on my part,

Eventually wore down my friend ToolGirl,

And she agreed to be a super sub,

Available on a somewhat regular basis.

Still a person short probably,

A few too many subs,

Not enough fulltimers,

But close nonetheless.

Definitely close enough to give it a run.

So two years late,

There I was …

Walking into the old arena,

Ver 2.0.

Alone,

Of course.

That’s the way it always seems to be. *shrug*

Probably for the better anyways,

Though I can say,

For a moment there I was kinda wishing I didn’t have to be there early for a team kaptain’s meeting,

Because walking in there alone felt sorta, kinda …

Like I was walking in there alone. 🙂

Anyways.

The old place hadn’t changed,

Much.

Some new paint,

Ball holders,

*snicker* *snicker*

That’s about it.

Waitress was the same,

The arena manager was the same,

He definitely knew me,

But that’s another story. 🙂

I recognized many of the people in the league,

Though other than just some smiles,

I didn’t really have much interaction with them,

Except for one team.

Their manager came over to me and welcomed me back,

Was very friendly,

And though I’m sure he doesn’t realize it,

Put me at ease.

From what I understand,

Him and his teammates,

Where the ones that first suggested getting me back into the old arena.

Proof I point out,

That there are good people in the world !

“So,” he said approaching me with a friendly smile, “Your band is taking our lead singer, huh?”

“Yeah,” I answered with a laugh, “That’s what I hear. It’ll be a while before she’s able to go out on tour, but we’ll have many from the old band back banging around.”

“Good, glad you’re back.”

So that was that.

The first week there Scully, Shaft, Steel and ToolGirl joined in for the fun,

And since then we’ve had several more jam sessions with a great mix of old and new.

As wornout a phrase as it is,

It really does seem just like old times.

Lotsa laughs,

Disturbing comments,

And kewl friendship.

Now I really don’t know who knows there,

And who doesn’t,

Fortunately it wasn’t on the agenda at the league meeting. 🙂

I just assume everyone does,

And conduct myself in the typical Amy-manner,

Doing the typical Amy-thang.

The people in the league have been uber kewl !

About the only oddity for me is that a couple of times,

People have asked me how I liked “Indianapolis“.

Huh?

I didn’t know what they were talking about,

But always answered it anyways,

As if I should know.

Only recently did I remember that some explained Joe’s disappearance by saying he moved to Indianapolis.

Too phunny. 🙂

Amyways,

For what it’s worth,

“I liked Indianapolis. But it’s nice to be back.” 😉

Ring Ring … Ring Ring Krap, where’s my phone?
