Barry Manilow rocks !!! Gawd is he ever great !!! Yeah, yeah, yeah … I know, I’m a fan of his and all, so I may be a bit biased, but did you see how much time and attention he gave to each of the contestants? He not only cared about helping each person, you could tell he was a fan of American Idol. Meaning no disrespect to Stevie, but Manilow Week kicked the krap out of Wonder Week. Wasted.<\/p>\n
Okay, on to the contestants:<\/p>\n
Mandisa:<\/em> Again, she’s phreaking amazing. Great performance. Super personality.<\/p>\n Bucky:<\/em> Sorry Bucky, that was just mediocre karaoke, and that’s assuming I had a few Coors Light in me to make it mediocre.<\/p>\n Chris:<\/em> Hmmm, not to sound like I spend my life in bars or anything, because I don’t, but I swear I’ve heard a rock version of Walk the Line before in a bar, maybe it was just a local band or maybe it was piped music or just someone’s disc. I don’t know. Heck, maybe I just imagined it. But either way, a rock version of Walk the Line is a good version, and though his voice was a bit off, Chris was great. <\/p>\n Katharine:<\/em> She can sing, but honestly, she’s lacking some spark. She might end up in trouble down the line as a result of her high non-excitement value. <\/p>\n Taylor:<\/em> Taylor copped out on the song choice last night, it was way too easy for him; in that suit he was wearing, he was a bow tie away from looking like Pee Wee Herman; and, I won’t even venture into discussing his dance moves. Good voice as always, but I thought his overall performance was lame. Hey. <\/p>\n Paris:<\/em> She looked cute and belted out a good song. Super performance really, however, she’s choosing songs too old for her again and that’s making her NF.<\/p>\n Kevin:<\/em> Kevin is around because of VFTW<\/a> and he will be around for a few more weeks because of it. Personally, I think it’s funny. Regardless, let’s just move along, there’s nothing to see here folks.<\/p>\n Lisa:<\/em> I thought she sang fairly well, a bit off in parts, but overall … she is top-notch. But … like Katharine, she’s lacking spark which could mean the end is soon.<\/p>\n Elliot:<\/em> See comment for Lisa, except replace “she” with “he”.<\/p>\n Kellie:<\/em> I like Kellie’s voice, though it’s very weak compared with the other singers, you can tell she hasn’t had the benefit of professional coaching. Also, she needs to fire immediately whoever is doing her hair and make-up. Innocent and dumb <\/em>sells much better than whory and dumb<\/em>. Nonetheless, and I’m serious, Kellie has better singing moves and stage mobility than anyone left in the competition. With good song choice, she’ll make the final 4.<\/p>\n Ace:<\/em> Seriously, any guy can sing falsetto if they have their testicles removed. Just ask Michael Jackson. Yawn.<\/p>\n Ranking from first to worst:<\/strong> Mandisa, Chris, Paris, Elliot, Katharine, Lisa, Taylor, Kellie, Kevin, Ace, Bucky<\/p>\n Who’s going to be in the final three:<\/strong> Lisa, Elliot and Bucky (Why? Because in the great, young girl category, Lisa and Paris are splitting votes and Lisa is losing the battle with Paris. In the guy, rock category, Chris has already beat Elliot.
