Okay …<\/p>\n
This is a quickie update,<\/p>\n
As there’s more to tell about last night and this morning,<\/p>\n
But …<\/p>\n
Because Kenna’s Shaft (aka, her brother, who is way kewl !!!) and I have to go out and run some errands,<\/p>\n
Otherwise referred to as getting one’s glasses fixed …<\/p>\n
Seems he exhibits an amazing similiarity to my Shaft, as Kenna’s Shaft also broke his glasses while he was taking a nap !!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Anywhose …<\/p>\n
Kenna is doing fine …<\/p>\n
And is in surgery as I post this post.<\/p>\n
Beforehand,<\/p>\n
Though understandably anxious,<\/p>\n
She was her smiling, warm, fun, talkative self ! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
But right now,<\/p>\n
Obviously,<\/p>\n
She is out like a rock …<\/p>\n
In the operating room.<\/p>\n
Dr. Z picked her up at the hotel this morning about 6:30 am,<\/p>\n
And I followed them to his medical office.<\/p>\n
She met with the anesthesiologist first …<\/p>\n
Not the gawdawful kute Anesthesiologist Dan that I’ve claimed dibs on,<\/p>\n
But an also attractive and apparently nice Anesthesiologist Mark.<\/p>\n
The nurse then went over a few things with her and finally I as allowed back in the examination room while we gabbed …<\/p>\n
Soon Dr. Z came in to answer any last questions,<\/p>\n
Go over her photos one more time,<\/p>\n
And start marking up her face.<\/p>\n
I would like the record to reflect,<\/p>\n
That even while Dr. Z was marking up her face …<\/p>\n
You know …<\/p>\n
Using that Sharpie-like pen to draw arrows and circles all over one’s face and body so he knows where to do whatever he does ..<\/p>\n
She was talking.<\/p>\n
The entire time !!<\/p>\n
Imagine that !! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Anyways …<\/p>\n
She by the time we were there …<\/p>\n
She was ready for the surgery,<\/p>\n
Both from a being prepped perspective and an emotional perspective.<\/p>\n
As she astutely observed,<\/p>\n
“Everything all of us have to do in the process of transition,<\/p>\n
From the very beginning of just contacting someone on-line,<\/p>\n
To seeing a therapist,<\/p>\n
To telling others,<\/p>\n
To whatever …<\/p>\n
Seems so scary and overwhelming before you do it,<\/p>\n
But once you do it,<\/p>\n
It’s like …<\/p>\n
Ya know, that wasn’t so bad.<\/p>\n
After all is said and done,<\/p>\n
I think this will be the same.<\/i>”<\/p>\n
When they came to take her into the operating room …<\/p>\n
As she walked down the hall …<\/p>\n
She was smiling ! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
(At the very same time, I was hiding her sandals … come on, seriously, you can’t let an opportune prank situation like that go unused !! :))<\/p>\n
We got a call from Dr. Z’s office a short while later telling us that the surgery had started,<\/p>\n
She went under the anesthesia well, and<\/p>\n
Everything was fine ! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
I’ll post another update as soon as we hear anything else,<\/p>\n
As I plan to check in with them again in about an hour.<\/p>\n
For those logging the time,<\/p>\n
She’s not expected to be out of surgery until between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm central standard time.<\/p>\n
