Friday Five for August 6, 2004

Yikes …

The Friday Five questions this week suck !

Big time.

And I really have no interest in answering them …

So I’m going to do something completely different this week …

Amy’s Interactive Friday Five !!!!!

Wooo hoooo !!

Yes, now everyone klap their hands displaying their excitement !! 馃檪

Very good !!

Okay …

Here’s the deal …

Following are this week’s questions …

Answer one or answer all …

About me or about yourself …

Or Whoever,

Whatever amuses you.

‘Cause gawd knows …

These questions aren’t that easily answered.

So if you can find a way to have fun with them …

Go for it.

Now if you’re a first time poster …

And all worried about someone figuring out who you are …

Where it asks you for your e-mail address on the comment form …

Just put in a fake e-mail address and goofy name. It’s that easy to maintain your privacy. (Now yes, I think my system does log the IP address of the last 100 people that come here, but I have neither the time, nor the interest, to ever even look at that log.)

Okay … here are the questions:

1) What animal best represents you?

2) What color best represents you?

3) What season best represents you?

4) What emotion best represents you?

5) What flower/tree/plant best represents you?

Friday Five for July 23, 2004

Yeah … yeah … yeah.

I know, I’m like …

What, three days late with these?

And I really don’t have any good excuse …

Except that I was just doing some life stuff,

You know, Making AmyNews ! 馃檪

Anyways,

The questions this week really aren’t that great … meaning they nicely resemble Friday Fives of the past !! 馃檪

Yay !! Just like old times !!

1. Who was your favorite band/musican when you were younger?

Well … this sort of depends on what you mean by “younger”, contrary to the age I act … chronologically, I’m well into the middle age of life. (For those inquiring minds, I’m 41 years old, but I don’t act a day over 35 and I certainly have moments where my behavior resembles something much younger than that !)

I’ve always really like Top 40 music … so that means that the music I generally like has a life-span of about 6 weeks … and most such groups/musicians have a career span of about one disc.

However … a few bands/musicians stick out in my mind,

And I’d say that the following have qualified as my “favorite” …

At various points in my life:

The Partridge Family
Jim Croce
The Knack
Journey
Kim Wilde
Def Leppard

Friday Five for July 9, 2004

So anyways … the old Friday Five ceased publication on the May 6, 2004. Which to me was sort of a bummer, because though I often mocked them for being lame questions … it was something sorta regular to do while I was awake in the wee early morning hours of each Friday as I was dealing with my lovely insomnia.

Well … this morning, around 2:00 AM or so, as I was watching stuff that I had TIVO’d earlier … I decided to Google and see if anyone had come up with a replacement … which low and behold … someone had !! 馃檪 Actually, several replacements … here, and here, and here.

Unfortunately, none of them had posted their five questions for the week …

So I started writing an e-mail to this nice guy that I’ve owed a response to for about two weeks, but haven’t answered yet because of the whole boob job thing and follow-up trip to Chicago and post-boob-job blues …

However, as I was drafting my response (that’s some legal-ese there kids) … I decided that I was going to also start an Inside Amy’s Inbox, cont. post, using some of the answers I was giving in the e-mail … because he asked me some of the best questiooooons I’ve ever been asked related to my transsexualism. (On a side note, though I haven’t finished my response to him yet, I most certainly will, because in addition to asking really good questioooooons, he also made me laugh out loud twice in one e-mail, so it certainly warrants a proper response ! :))

Viewer Created Friday Five for April 9, 2004 – Volume II

The Viewer Created Friday Five continues here with Volume II as I attempt to answer some of the more light-hearted, miscellaneous questions posed …

1.) What swear words do you say when you hurt yourself, like hitting a finger with a hammer?

Yeah, I still swear, hasn’t that already been phucking established ?? LOL 馃檪 Though I really have cut it down considerably from my days as a boy. hehe Plus I’m really trying to use less extreme swear words than I’ve used in the past … “asshole” and “dammit” are my frequent words of choice these days.

However … I really do still like the word “phuck” and it’s various derivatives … “phucking asshole” is one of my more bolder, aggressive standby’s now.

And in times of extreme distress or pain, such as hammering my thumb, I tend to continue stringing together an assorted list of swear words in a totally random manner … “cock sucking mutha fucking son of a bitch“. I really don’t remember the last time I strung that sort of word set together. Though I think I did mutter under my breath reference to some jerk a week or so ago as a “cock sucking douche bag“. Nice Amy, Nice. I’ve got a ways to go, huh? 馃檪

Now despite the fact that I really am trying not to swear nearly as much, I am finding myself more likely now to swear in front of women instead of men. Unless of course I’m doing a strategically placed flirt with a guy in the bar while watching a basketball game … opining in a very mild, nonchalant, dismissive manner that so-and-so is an “asshole” seems to catch the interest of guys at times. I haven’t quite figured out why … but it does seem to work.

2. What, exactly, is a White Castle food item?

White Castle is a fast food restaurant chain located predominantly in the midwest that is known for their inexpensive, steam fried, thin hamburgers with holes in them that are cooked on a bed of chopped onions. Among the devotees, they are commonly known as “sliders” (“slyders” in true White Castle lingo), because they tend to slide right through your system. White Castle is the oldest hamburger chain in the United States. Sweet !! 馃檪 There are 18 White Castle burgers to a pound of beef, making them rather small in size and almost more of an appetizer than a burger meal, which is why consuming 1/2 dozen sliders is really no big deal. The hamburgers come with little holes in them so that when they are cooking, they don’t have to be flipped on the grill. I’ve learned most of this krap from reading the little paper placemat they provide for you in their very sterile looking, white and polished steel restaurants.

I guess a slider is an acquired tasted, you either like them or you don’t. I love them !!! 馃檪 Their crinkle cut fries are great, along with their shakes. I usually add one of their chicken or fish sandwiches to the order just to break up the onslaught.
