Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day Everyone ! πŸ™‚

I had a great day with my dad !

We hung out,

Did the food thing,

Got ice cream,

Watched Phil blow yet another U.S. Open, and …

He got everything he wanted for Father’s Day.

Definitely a good, good day.

Dads Rock !

Especially mine ! πŸ™‚

  1. Gawd luv ya JC !!! I love it that some of my Viewers know me so well !!! πŸ™‚ You called it, I would say there is something that’s close to MAJOR going on … but sadly, it’s not relationship related.

In fact, totally, pathetically, I got kompletely blown off by a guy that had actually peaked my interest recently, and no, that’s not code for anything ! πŸ™‚ Though in light of the phact that I do kiss and tell, let me tell ya … this guy was the BEST kisser ever !!! Holy krap !!! And I’m moderately sure that that’s not the Jaeger Bombs talking !!! πŸ™‚

  2. OK. So….What’s his name? What does he do? When’s the date?

You usually take a long time off when something MAJOR is going on.

  3. Oh come now.
    100 degrees?
    That’s all?
    That’s sweater weather.
I should send you a photo from the bank sign here.
    Last week it was 123.
    We went for coffee.
You know, cuz it won’t get cold.
Okay, really, this is a stupid place to live.

  4. i hope i don’t sound snide asking,
    i’m just curious–
have you ever actually talked about spilling your beer,
or did i just imagine that?
    :p

  5. Amy, you do realize, of course, that with each passing day, the “wow-expectation” for your next blog grows?…probably exponentially….at this point your readers proabably expect nothing short of greatness…

….if anybody can pull it off, it’s Amy-wan…..

    …but, no pressure, sis….

    πŸ™‚

  6. O.K. Amy, it’s time to roll the world premiere of your latest post….the popcorn is getting stale, the frozen mountain dew has turned to slush, loosing feeling in parts of the body from sitting too long and some of the audience will probably have to visit the facilities pretty dang quick.

  7. It’s hard to leave the Father’s Day blog when you love your Dad as much as Amy loves hers….

(…how’s that one Ames?…worth my fee?)

    *giggles*

  8. Ouch ! πŸ™‚

Good point … but no, I’ve still got stuff to observe, digest and spew.

Unfortunately, sometimes real life gets in the way and I do have to earn a buck and keep my clients that pay the bills happy and satisfied. Though you did just give me a good idea for solving something on which I’ve been toying … if I can make it work, you’ll get proper credit JC !

  9. Why don’t you change this blog to a picture caption thing so you don’t have to worry about big, dramatic posts?

  10. Thanks. It looks exactly as I though I wrote it. I’m using a laptop and the little keyboard su…ah… is cra…ah…encourages keystroke blunders. I hate when it interfers with being snarky. πŸ˜‰

  11. That is true !!! Sorry !!! Post tonight. Yeah … I know, I said it before, and I meant it every time, just as I mean it this time … so it’s really no guarantee I’ll post tonight, but I really am going to try. πŸ™‚

(Yodette … I did an edit on your comment because I think there was a typo, if there wasn’t and you want me to put the original word use back, just let me know ! :))

  12. Thanks, Amy. I always love hearing about good performers I didn’t know existed. I think I could put you on to some that would blow you away. Don’t focus on covers? Hell, I ignore them for the most part, unless someone does something extraordinary that changes the way I thought about a song. I prefer originals exclusively and I’m always trying to bump covers out of my setlist with originals, but there are a few tunes I love to respect by playing. I just listened to a few of John’s tracks and they are very nice. While we’re both largely acoustic, he’s a little more upbeat and brighter than I am. Dark folk is my thang. He writes with more brevity, too. What I lack in guitar firepower I think I try to make up for in word count. Heh.

I wish him luck but, damn, solo artist is a tough way to earn a living. I’m glad I have a day job I enjoy so there’s no musical pressure. I started recording last week at a studio here, though so maybe I’ll send you a rough clip soon.

  13. His name is John Rush. He’s really good ! He did a super fab amylicious version of Collide for me Friday night … so fab in fact I bought him a beer in appreciation ! He’s sorta a Howie Day type performer without the Howie Day attitude … in other words, he’ll talk to you, he’s really nice and he doesn’t think you owe him a romp in the hay just because he’s really, really musically talented (yeah I know, but it’s still nice). (And don’t worry Howie Day … you’re still most played on my mp3 player !)

John’s a fella to keep an eye on … if you get the chance to see him perform, definitely take advantage of it and check him out ! And don’t just focus on his covers, his original stuff his good too … we just need to figure out how to get one of his ditties on some teen angst drama show and he’ll be fame ! He’s doing the college circuit quite a bit, but he’s also doing bar locals here for the near future … which for those of you who still haven’t figured out where I call hometown … check John’s itinerary and you can see exactly where I was at one point last Friday night during the midst of a pub crawl. πŸ™‚

  14. Amy, while you’re posting for everyone, I hope you can answer one small question — who is the musician in the recent photos you put up? I ask because he looks like he could perhaps be my slightly younger, burlier, and better looking brother.

  15. LOL – I saw Pirates 2 last night. As we walked out of the theater I said to my spouse, “That was the Pirates of the Carribean version of The Empire Strikes Back.”

  16. Yo … I know. Yesterday afternoon I spent with Nephew 2 getting some things for my Dad’s birthday today, then Sister-in-Law, Nephew 1, Nephew 2 and I went to see Pirates 2 – The Empire Strikes Back (it’s worth seeing, but not GREAT, it was a bit confusing and dragged in the middle – I give it a 6.5 out of 10), then when I got home, I fell into a movie popcorn coma and slept until 5:00 AM on my sofa … I woke up, washed my face, went to bed and woke up again at 6:30 AM, got ready for the day, went downtown to the office for a bit, met Mom, Dad and Baby Brother’s family for my dad’s birthday brunch, then Dad, Mom and I went looking for a new computer case for Dad, then I spent the rest of the afternoon/evening – until now – being computer bitch prepping a new machine my mom got and getting another machine tweaked some for Shaft. Sadly, I encountered some frustrations with an unstable internal wireless adapter in the new machine for my mom … I finally gave up for the day and came home after going out with Mom, Dad, Baby Brother, Sister-In-Law and Nephew 1 for ice cream for my Dad’s birthday (Nephew 2 went to camp today) … I figured I had better just call it a day on the computer task because I hit my quota for Ph-bombs on a Sunday … grrrrrrr. Anyways … I’m going to make a zero carb dinner of sorts and then I’ll be back punching away … I might upload some old pics of my neck first … but that depends entirely on whether or not I find the pics where I think they are … since I’m rather computer exhausted at the moment, and if the pics aren’t on my old notebook, then they are on one of my old desktop harddrives in the AmyLab … and I have to find a video card in my box of treats before I can even check out the drives, ’cause I sort of have a video card incident a few weeks back … though on a totally unrelated, geekbutt note … it’s really pretty easy building your own Tivo-type device out of spare computer parts. Anyways … that was my weekend. I might just be up all night writing because I really have a ton of krap to share with you all … a phreaking ton ! πŸ™‚

  17. OMG….no new blog…missed out on 5 additional Coors Lights!….

Who are you and what have you done with our AMY!!!!!!!!

    :))

  18. LOL!…from your bar-stool text message last night, I figured THAT would resonate!

Here’s the bonus incentive…if you get it done (and POSTED…sorry…you know how us lawyers are about wording) TODAY, I’ll make it a six pack!

…btw, people…by way of observation and for future consideration…with our dear Amy, it would appear that a “nudge” is much less effective than a Coors Light…

    …but you already knew that… πŸ™‚

  19. Wow !!! That’s a brilliant incentive !!! I’m totally there … I WILL be posting today, so get the Coors Light on ice !!! πŸ™‚

  20. …Does anybody know what the half-life of a “nudge” is?

…When do “nudges” lose their freshness?

Should I have used an industrial strength “nudge” with Amy-wan??? Or perhaps a Jedi “mind-nudge”???

    Help me out here people…

  21. I’d call…but, since you’re sittin’ at your computer, I’d hate to interrupt you from your blog-writing (which, I’m positive you’re doing!)…

    *giggles*

    Tara

  22. The nudges are working !!! πŸ™‚ See how quickly I responded to your comment … though feel free to cwall me and biatch me out … I totally deserve it !

  23. Cool…nudges work! πŸ™‚

I’ve considered calling you…but if I was gonna “biaatttchhhh”…it’d be over the long lost T-shirt that you promised to send…not an overdue blog…

    **hint, hint**

    ***giggling my butt off***

  24. OK….. Go with number 1, but ya have to promise to finish your Be-All recap… Or at least what you remember from it… I am still tired!

    Erica

  25. I figured you would Tara !!! I do appreciate the nudge !!! πŸ™‚ Si’s on your side too, though she actually called me and biaatttchhhhed me out for my lame postage of late … damn publishers !!! πŸ™‚

I’ll finish her up tonight so she’ll be posted by tomorrow AM.

  26. I’m pickin’ #1…big surprise, huh?? …not just because I soooo wanna hear what you have to say on that one…but also…it’s been in the hopper quite a while…I imagine it’s been plaguing you…so, I’ll give you the nudge to “git-r-done”… πŸ™‚

(Honestly…the “Elephants and Midget Donkeys” post sounded really interesting…LOL!)

  27. Amy, thanks so much for asking. The gig went great and I have an open invitation to play there at any time in the future which was so nice to get. It’s also led to some prospects for playing at an acoustic venue in the Golden Nugget and at a sort of country club grill at a golf club here.

I’m an acoustic folk guy but the jazz guitarist who played the venue the week before sat in with me for most of the show and was amazing accompaniment considering we’d never played together before that night and he’d never heard my songs. (I did about half originals and half REALLY obscure covers.)

No video or audio of the show, but I’m expecting a copy of a photo someone took of us, framed, and gave to the venue. They have our photos on the wall there now which is so very cool. I’m starting a recording project next week so maybe I’ll have a studio clip to send you soon.

I do drink Mandarin Orange tea on occasion but I don’t think that’s going to help Jack. Here’s an “out there” prediction: Christopher Henderson will somehow help Jack. I think we both suspect he’s not really dead. Perhaps just “mostly dead.” Heh.

  28. Howie !!!

    How U doin?

How was your Saturday at the Bistro performance ??? Went great I hope !!! Any video footage that I can upload here to show the Viewers ???

I’m not sure I can last until January for the new day, so I’m totally for joining the rescue party ! I’ll so come in handy … I speak Mandarin Chinese fluently … ta ma duh ! Okay, technically, I don’t speak Mandarin Chinese fluently, but I do swear in Mandarin Chinese really, really well !!! πŸ™‚

  29. I think my dad likes having a daughter, though at the same time, I think my dad is glad I’m T because had he had to deal with mwah during my teen years … I’d have aged him silly !!! πŸ™‚

My dad totally rocks !!! I do try to spoil him rotten though by frequently furnishing him with his two weaknesses … cashews and a Frosty from Wendy’s !

    Of course I didn’t think you’d forget !!! Here’s something for ya Tara-chica …

I’ve got a bunch of posts of substance on which I’m working … none of which are completed, but I’ll finish the one you pick for me to finish first. The working tittles are :

    1. Amy’s Press Conference – Question Eight – Dos
    2. Be-All 2006 – Two Words
    3. Hair Grafting – The Surgery Picture
    4. Elephants and Midget Donkeys (Okay, seriously, don’t pick this one, because it’s really not a post of substance, but it’s really the title of a post and based on a true lunch conversation between Shaft, Spuddy and One Named Amy – Shaft gives the groaner of the punny punchline in the post.

    So Tara … 1, 2 or 3?

  30. I’m Happy to hear that you have such a great relationship with your Dad…I’m not so sure that mine will be able to handle my transition… πŸ™

…Amyways…I was wondering….when are we ever gonna get to read your “Press Conference – Question Eight – Dos” post???

You didn’t think we’d let you forget it…did ya??? πŸ™‚

  31. I was just wondering how wonderful it must be to be Dad’s daughter…it sounds so nice i hope that not only did your Dad enjoy but I also hope his daughter did too…. and here’s to many more!! take care !

  32. Amy, now that AI and 24 are over, I didn’t want to just ride off into the sunset. Though we do have some beautiful sunsets here in the Mojave Desert that just beg for someone to ride off into them nightly. Hope you’re well. It sounds like ya are.

    I’ll keep checking in for topics to comment on, but right now, I got nothin’. If I write anymore, it’ll just be typing. asdf jkl;

    Howie

P.S. I’m trying to raise funds and get Ross Perot involved in an effort to rescue Jack out of Shanghai.

  33. Dad’s do rock. Glad you could spend some time with yours. I was able to talk with mine but since he lives in New Orleans, I just don’t get to see him that much.

ps. I just got off the phone with our friend who just had her FFS with Dr. Z. She’s doing great and looks great too. She said you were just too awesome to her. Hugs for that.
