A Guy Walks Up To Me In A Bar …
And says,
“I fish for a living.”
Choose one of the following responses:
A.) Is that code for something?
B.) That explains a lot.
C.) And I’m Mrs. Paul.
D.) Does that line ever work?
WHATEVER
Since this week’s Friday Five completely blow, I’ve decided to ask myself questions throughout the day. Question Three – (11:45 am) Yo yo Amy … S’up? What’s the deal with you adding all those oooooos sometimes when you say/key a word that ends with an “ion”. -Aims I hate it … totally. Unfortunately, it’s one…
Today’s lesson … Changing the gender marker on your driver’s license. Actually kids, it’s fairly easy, anyone can do it. Basically, all you have to do is ask … As long as you ask in the right way. Of course, this only applies to my home state, but … Here’s the drill:
I’m woefully behind in responding to some e-mails and questions asked in comments … for that I apologize … I’ve really been busy sort of getting things in line for … well, you know what … So here are some of the things I’ve been asked along with their answers, I’ll be more verbose someday…
Ya know … I’m an extremely predictable creature of habit. Really predictable. So when I go days and days in a row, Without updating AmyNews.com … You know something is up. But what, pray tell? Well … Nothing new or different really, Just the same ol’ problem that I’ve been struggling with for quite a…
“Are you going to bowl next year?” That was the question tossed out at the weekly gathering of The UnUsual Suspects (Renamed by unanimous decision during a vote taken at the bar last night. Everyone liked the The Usual Suspects identifier … but Singer pointed out that there’s nothing “usual” about any of us and…
OH, GEESH, Yodette, I just got that! OMG, I’m APPALLED by my own density!
If I had the name Aimee, I’d be worried. I mean, if somebody who aims a gun is an aimer….
๐
What are you saying, Greg? That I gained some weight ?? LOL ๐
No, I haven’t updated that thing since I moved from the late 30’s to early 40’s. I suppose that some of the favorites might change and my hobbies too. I’ll take a look and tweak it ! Thanks !
Thanks Greg ! I try to publish a less obvious, more detailed pic of my noggin’ every now and then for those who like to get a better view to evaluate of my face whakin’ results. For those so reading, I post them based on viewer requests, so let me know if there’s an angle you’d like to see.
Yeah, I know … the Catch and Release line was dangerous to use. I was well aware of that and thought twice before tossing it out. However, I was at the bar in the first place because I had been asked to meet someone there. Unfortunately for me, I got stood up …
Anyways, I was fortunate that the guy I used it on was apparently enjoying the banter just as much as I, kept me company for a while and was a very nice guy overall …
Still … it’s not a line I will most likely ever use again,
Though doubtful I’d ever find it topical again either ! lol ๐
Amy –
“about Mwah” – is that up to date?
(1) “high five,” “gimmie five,” “low five,” “five on the side” – talk about being “so yesterday, dad!” (Alexandra Flagg) That’s not cool; that’s antique!
(2) “So, are you a Catch and release man or do you eat what you catch?” – that was such a good come-back — but, from a guy’s perspective, it’s an almost ‘unconditional’ come-on. Your flirting is gonna get you …well, satisfied….but it could also get you in trouble. This isn’t hust me: ask Shaft, too. Please be careful! There are some real violent, macho, dickwads out there.
(3) BTW – I noticed the new photos on page one of your website –
(a) I always wondered if anyone ever used those books in lawyers offices anymore, with the net out there encompasing so much. I guess they do at least make good photo backdrops of women pretending to do work.
(b) I hadn’t seen a glittering, new, clear, direct facial (re: that profile/silhouette) of you in quite a few months – you well-and-truly present beautifully!
Actually, he was quite the sweetie. Very entertaining, good taste in music and he certainly knew how to engage in a conversation. The only disturbing trait was a David Puddy-like overuse of the “High Five”.
Your reply … priceless. ๐
If he was a dweeb you could give him the eye, up and down, and opine you guess he’s risen in his craft beyond journeyman baiter.
Yes … the line was actually served on me recently. There’s no way I could ever come up with that one on my own !! ๐
I won’t tell you which answer I went with just yet, though I will say …
It didn’t take me long to get to the point where I tossed back the query …
Editor’s Note: Read at your own risk. Serious double entendre to follow.
“So, are you a Catch and Release man or do you eat what you catch?“
I think there a couple more good answers you could give here!
E) what a terrible hook that line is.
You HAVE to go with the “is that code for something”…Its more open ended then the other three responses…and it will get the conversation going (at least if you want it to!)
So…was this line served to you in a bar recently?
