Rule of 3

Did you see the movie American Pie 2?

In the movie, there is some dual dialogue going in a scene where the girls and the guys are having similar, yet different, conversations.

With the guys you have Stifler saying …

“When a girl tells you how many guys she’s slept with multiply it by three and that’s the real number.”

And with the girls you have Jessica stating …

“If a guy tells you how many girls he’s hooked-up with, it’s not even close to that. You take that number and divide it by three, then you get the real total … Rule of three, it’s an exact science consistent as gravity.”

Curiously enough, that might be a pretty accurate rule of thumb in many respects.

However, I’d like to expand on that a bit further …

I think the Rule of 3 also comes into play when you’re talking about the age of a woman that a man is inclined to be attracted to …

As it seems that more often than not,

Guys like younger girls.

I’m really not sure of the reverse,

In lacking a history of experience,

I can’t speak for the gender yet …

All I know is from my personal experience, I prefer being with guys my age or a few years older. So the converse doesn’t appear to be true.

But that doesn’t matter …

Because what I’m postulating here is that guys have a natural attraction towards women 1/3 their age (give or take 1/3).

Why one third?

Well, first of all, it doesn’t hurt in keeping the Rule of 3 somewhat relevant for one thing …

But most importantly,

I’m basing this entirely on my personal experience.

I’ve noticed that I have an astonishing ability, if I do say so myself (we), to attract men who are in their mid-50’s.

Can I catch the eye of the cute guy my age?

Oh sure, on occasion, but not with any comfortable consistency.

But plop a mid-50’s guy at the bar,

Or behind me in the grocery line,

Or at the theatre,

Or while I’m in a restaurant,

Or … whatever.

And the knuckleheads talking to me all over the place …

While totally eyeing me from head breast to toe breast …

And learing at me with a look that makes me think …

If you were only 10 years younger.

Oh well … I do so love the attention !

I think I’m going to start hanging out at senior golf outtings !! 🙂

(Though bearing no relevance to this post whatsoever, I’d be remiss if I did not mention that the American Pie series of flicks are near and dear to all of us in my neck of the woods.)
