(Irritating attorney trait … not answering the question, but asking a question in response. As previously noted, I look forward to the day said trait really gets on my husband’s nerves. ;))
“Are you near a television? I want to you turn on Inside Edition.”
“Mom !! She’s NOT a transsexual !!” LOL LOL
“I know, I know, I know. That’s what you say. But look anyways. She’s almost always wearing turtlenecks or scarfs … and when she doesn’t you can see … she’s got a really large Adam’s Apple … for a girl anyways. I think she’s a transsexual. And even if she isn’t, she’s still got some really masculine facial features.”

My mom has been spouting this theory that Deborah Norville is either a transsexual or intersexual … mainly on the basis of her observation that Ms. Norville has a fairly observable Adam’s Apple and what my mom perceives as some rather masculine facial features.
Though after bearing three children, I doubt that Ms. Norville is/was/whatever a transsexual,
And as far the as the intersexual thing … who knows, but it’s nobody’s biz anyways.
However … to amuse my mom … I did turn on Inside Edition … and sure enough … Mom was right … Deborah has one heck of an Adam’s Apple … and then I noticed when I was searching for a pic to link … she’s wearing scarfs and turtlenecks in a lot of her pictures … and you rarely ever get a good look at her neck … so then I googled “Deborah Norville transsexual” … and got a lot of hits with reference to “Deborah Norville Legs” … hmmm, it is a proven phact that transsexual girls have better looking legs than natal girls (it has to do with the testosterone induced muscular structure of transsexual girls’ legs, don’t argue with me here … I’ve totally convinced some guys in the past that there’s truth to that assertion !! lol) … and apparently Deborah has pretty good looking legs … I wonder ?? 🙂
Anyways … whether or not Deborah is TS or IT or just has a big ass Adam’s Apple is not the point of this post … the point is …
When our friends and family members become exposed to our transsexualism … not only do they look at us differently … but as they grasp, accept, begin to understand or simply just process … they start looking at the rest of the world differently.
Sometimes that’s good … sometimes it’s bad …
And other times, it’s just odd. 🙂
That’s how I usually phrase it … “that women have less prominent Adam’s Apples” … but inevitably … it seems that what people hear is that “women don’t have Adam’s Apples”. 🙂
all women have adams apples. they are usually less prominent, but you can see most womens adams apples when they stretch their neck back, and some even when they dont.

I doubt working on preception of the male UPPER body parts will be Amy’s biggest adjustment. ;-o
Clearly you need to work on your perception of male upper body parts.
Dear Shaft: No, that is not your tell. You might be read as female primarily because you have breasts larger than all of the ts and natal women on our office floor combined. (Breasts mind you, you have breasts, not pecks as you like to pretend.) Amy. 🙂

When I transitioned I remembered girls my age in high scholl and junior high who had small adams apples. You can see mine, but it’s small and in over thirty years no one, to my knowledge, ever clocked me as trans because of it. Then again, I’ve not met your mom. 🙂
i think that’s about right. i trained a couple of my colleagues here at work in the basic points of trannyspotting (the sport of queens), and suddenly i got all kinds of reports… some of which sounded authentic, but more of which sounded like a heightened awareness of morphological variance.
I think it’s similar to the new car phenomenon…you know…buy a new car, and all the sudden you see them all over the place…

Hmm… good point. For the most part, I think its a motherly thing. Although, I do have certain friends that need to confer with me whenever they suspect someone might be gay.
Then there are the ones who have questions about sex. I hope you don’t mind me asking you this, but…” *eyeroll* Or my mother’s famous question:
“So… are you a top or a bottom?”

Really Miss Daisy ? That’s interesting … do you think it’s more a mom/family thing or have you noticed others behaving the same way at times?

This is correct. When I stepped out of my cedar lined closet, my mother got the same way. She started noticing, analyzing everyone.
Is he gay, what about her?
This still goes on while we watch television. It can be annoying once in awhile, but you get used to it. 🙂
