Breakfast a Day Early
I met my parents for breakfast on Saturday … totally spur of the moment … so much so that I didn’t have time to shower before leaving my house and had to pack my hair under a baseball cap …
Service was lame … and it was an hour before we had our breakfast …
But what was cool was during that time … and for about an hour afterwards … we talked … and a good portion of that was about me …
My plans … what I’m thinking timewise … how I’m feeling about spending more and more time as Amy … transition thoughts … what to do about work … my office … thoughts for telling extended family members and friends of the family … good, open, practical talking about my specific implementation plans.
Both asked some really good questions.
It was a very easy conversation …
Mom is now anxious to just get me going … Dad is now the one a bit hesitant, but only from the planning, implementation side.
I could tell he was pleased with my line of reasoning as far as my job goes … and how I’m being dilligent in my planning and implementation.
His support was clear … as he said once again, “You have to do what makes you happy.” 🙂
Both said afterwards … though how they didn’t expect to have the conversation we did when they called me to meet for breakfast … they were glad we did … it was a really good conversation. 🙂
Kewl.
Then 5 minutes later … as I’m driving to meet my brother to do some holiday shopping … my mobile phone rings …
“Hello?”
“Yes, it’s dad, wash your car. It’s a mess. I wouldn’t let you get away with that before, and I’m not about to let Amy get away with it.”
Wow … that’s the first time Dad actually used my name.
Double Kewl.
Yes, I got my car washed. 🙂
Well, that’s obvious from your car needing washing! 😉
I know !!! Can you believe it !! LOL I’m like … what the … that’s so not like me … I’m Ms. Avoidance.
you had a meaningful conversation with your parents, and you came clean!
