What’s In A Name?

So my mom finally said that Amy is a nice name. Yay !! 🙂

She likes it and that it’s one of the names frequently used in the spiritual books she reads. Hmmm … I think we can comfortably conclude it certainly is not me playing any of those roles in the books she’s reading.

Though during our recent conversation, she did say that she wished I would have chosen a name that kept my initials the same, but then quickly moved on to saying that she really liked the name Sara (Sarah, Sera) too.

That she really liked it.

Does someone smell a hint? lol (The world can never have enough Sara’s ! 🙂 )

And at some other point she commented that it’s not necessarily fair that I chose my name, they should get some say in it. Ahhhh …. I never really imagined the whole naming thing would become such a popular topic !! lol I think it would be neat to let them have a say in it … sorta bonding in a way … but on the other hand … I’m Amy. It totally fits me.

Anyways … it was all said just in passing, talking, non-judgmental, thinking out loud comments … Mom does say what’s exactly on her mind.

The only thing that she was somewhat definitive about was my last name. She said that she really wants me to keep the family last name, (pssst … Preston isn’t my family last name. 😉 ) … “Because when I introduce you, I want people to know that you’re my daughter.”

Kewl ! 🙂

Oh, but then moments later a sense of realization hit her …

I’m not going to like the outfits you wear, am I?

I suspect it’ll be an issue between us.

You’re not going to dress like a tramp ! That simply will NOT be acceptable.

I don’t, I just like short things, but they are always … tasteful. Hey Dad, distract Mom for a second. I’m going to sneak out the back door while I still have a chance.

<*snicker* *snicker*>

As all will eventually see … I’m still me … just different. 🙂
